Bridge The Gap
A downloadable game
Bridge The Gap is a single player kingdom building game that is played on a hex map with a river running diagonally through it. I decided to create this game for a college class "Intro to Game Design". It was inspired by Sid Meier's Civilization series and has a medieval fantasy kingdom theme. What started as a rough idea turned into an exciting and random game project.
There are four buildings in Bridge the Gap: forts, farms, mines and markets. All are interdependent on one another and important for expanding your kingdom. Players use these buildings to grow an economy to purchase more buildings and gain control of the three bridges - the final goal. However, while playing the game players will have to put up with Orcs attacking from random directions. The strength of the enemy in this game is not to be underestimated, and without building a strong foundation, players can be easily overwhelmed. To make the game more interesting, random events have a 12.5% chance of being drawn, either bringing fortune or destruction to players.
Try my game now! The rules, map and game pieces can be downloaded from the separate file links below. All you have to do is download the pdf files, print them, and cut a few pieces out. Good luck Kings/Queens!
